Is there any documentation on maximum field lengths for data sent via the generic adapter?

Currently the routine will fail if a field length is too long, with the following error message:

"Adaptor Name: NHTB-Generic Error: An error occurred whilst trying to upload the data. Error message: "

There is no detail to the error message. I can't find any field lengths documented in the Standards Documentation.
